Who, how and what do we treat

The Department of Dentistry at the Galeazzi Institute applies university standards of excellence, together with a daily practice with a wealth of experience conducted on thousands of patients. The method is to provide a treatment offer of confirmed high quality and supported by scientific evidence.


Who: children, adults and the elderly

The clinical cases are not pre-oriented. After having made an appointment, the patient is seen, on their arrival, by a team of dentists who will follow the case until the end of treatment. This team assesses the existing pathologies and calls in the specialists as necessary according to the treatment plan agreed with the patient.


How: appointments

Specialist consultations can also be requested directly by patients, on referral by their dentists. We accept cases both within the Regional Health Service, according to the current regulations, and privately.

What: areas of treatment

The Department of Dentistry is divided into three clinical divisions, corresponding to the units in operation.


> Dentistry Division

This deals with the prevention of diseases of the teeth, caries and gums, gingivitis and periodontitis and the treatment of lesions caused by these pathologies.


> Children’s Dentistry and Orthodontics

This deals with the prevention and treatment of the dental and skeletal pathology in children. It also treats and intervenes precociously in cases of masticatory parafunctions and problems of alignment of the teeth.


> Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation.

This deals with the rehabilitation of the patient using prostheses on implants and periodical implant maintenance with check-ups at regular intervals.

The organization - Each clinical division corresponds to a section directed by a coordinator. Each operative area, in turn, is divided into several specialist units, for which a person responsible for the individual unit is identified.


Complex cases
The Clinic collaborates with other branches of specialized medicine in the Galeazzi, such as Maxillo-facial Surgery, Neurology, Orthopaedics or Vascular Surgery.

The call
The name of the arriving patient passes from the two areas of administrative reception to the terminal of the dentists’ units, so that they can be called directly from the waiting room.
